With the official US Thanksgiving now behind us, many consumers who wanted to prepare for holidays like Christmas and Hanukkah can now focus on those occasions. And as the gift industry has been preparing for the 2022 holiday season since the start of the year, our editors may be slowing down to start the celebrations in their own lives and homes. To help you get through the December holiday season and to help our editors kick off the season in person, our team is sharing their favorite first holiday gift finds from seasonal stationery and scents to serveware.
Lense Willis’ Choice: Fur Berry Holiday Candle by At Home by Mirabeau
You guessed it; my tip of the week is a candle again! Obviously, I like buying candles in boutiques — and according to our 2023 Gift Book Consumer Survey, 82 percent of consumers do, too. I can’t seem to get enough of these, so when I saw this At Home by Mirabeau Fur Berry candle at my local gift shop, I had to have it. It’s perfect for a Willis Tristano Christmas. With two labradors in the house, every day feels like a furry day and our vacations are certainly very furry! Not only does the candle smell amazing, like a mix of cranberry and cashmere, but the wooden lid has the adorable message ‘Have yourself a furry little Christmas’ with a plaid puppy paw. It’s the perfect addition to my holiday decor and makes me smile every time I walk past it.
#GDAfindoftheweek: Christmas Tree Section Server from Pampa Bay
Part of Pampa Bay’s Golden Salerno Collection, this serving trolley with Christmas tree section is perfect for nuts, fruit, candies, condiments, dips and other seasonal foods that vacationers want to serve and share with their guests! The festive bowls, which together form the shape of the Christmas tree, are made from high fire resistant porcelain with a golden titanium finish and fit together on an acacia wood tray to make storing and moving all three bowls together easy. Each bowl is food safe, dishwasher safe, oven safe up to 500°C, tarnish resistant and stain resistant, making them the perfect addition to a festive tableware or hostess gift for the season. The acacia wood tray is not dishwasher safe.
Adelaide Elliott’s Choice: Christmas Cat Cards by Avanti Press
Just a few weeks after moving into my first apartment after college, I adopted a little orange cat named Clementine, almost at the same time as two of my closest friends adopted their own first cats. Simultaneously going through the ups and downs of first time independent pet ownership was a real bonding experience for me and these friends and has become the source of many jokes in our friend group.
To commemorate this shared experience and the many laughs and fights we shared, a few years ago we started sending each other cat-themed Christmas cards. When I spotted the above two cards from Avanti Press a few days ago, I knew they would be my picks for this year. Featuring big, festive cats on the front of each card and fun/witty Christmas messages inside – the sweater clad cat card reads “May all your sweater be ugly and bright! Merry Christmas” and the wine-loving cat card reads “Santa’s not the only one who likes red! Merry Christmas” – I knew these cards were for me and sold even more when I noticed the eye-catching snowflake-decorated envelopes. Both cards are visually stunning and I can’t wait to send them out to my friends and their cats later this month!
